OVIEDO, Fla. (June 6, 2017) — When John Canonico opened Brightway, Oviedo-Winter Springs five years ago, he not only committed to offering consumers in central Florida expert counsel and more choice in insurance, but also he made a point to be active in the local community and to helping others. Canonico dove in head first, dedicating time and resources to help in his local community and now is working to help children in Haiti who need shoes.

Canonico is joining Pittsburgh Steeler Cornerback, Coty Sensabaugh, and his wife, Dominique, for their second annual #SensabaughMissionMoon June 28 – July 2. The Sensabaughs wed last summer and in lieu of a honeymoon, they helped the non-profit organization, Soles4Souls, collect and deliver nearly 17,000 pairs of shoes to people in the Dominican Republic. Touched by the experience, the Sensabaughs planned another mission to Haiti in 2017.

“The average American owns about 19 pairs of shoes, so it’s easy for us to take them for granted. But for a Haitian child, a pair of shoes can be the difference between getting an education or not,” said Canonico. “We’re raising money and collecting shoes, deflated soccer balls and other soccer equipment to deliver to the children in Haiti. Our goal is to put new shoes on at least 700 children during our upcoming mission.”

Brightway, Oviedo-Winter Springs is collecting shoes and soccer equipment Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. through June 21. The Agency is located at 1500 Alafaya Trail, Suite 1012 in Oviedo (next to TrustCo Bank). Those wishing to make a financial contribution may do so through the fundraising website.

“We’re thrilled that John Canonico will be joining us for our second #SensabaughMissionMoon,” said Dominique Sensabaugh. “It’s because of volunteers like him that we’re able to put shoes on hundreds of children who may be walking barefoot, in tattered shoes or in shoes they’ve outgrown.”

Brightway, Oviedo-Winter Springs offers customized Home, Condo, Renters, Auto, Flood, RV, Motorcycle, Boat, ATV, Life, Business and Umbrella insurance policies from more than 50 insurance carriers including Nationwide, Bankers, Progressive, Safeco and Travelers.
