Vietnamese Insurance Pro Unveils His American Dream - Former State Financial Examiner Opens Brightway Agency

Growing something special with precision and care is in Ken Tang’s DNA. His strong Vietnamese roots and family-centric culture play a key role in what is making his American Dream become a reality next week in South County.

The son of a gardener and furniture manufacturer, Tang will open Brightway, The Tang Family Agency insurance office this Monday. With more than a dozen years dedicated to learning both sides of the insurance industry, Tang’s Lin Ferry Drive business will be dedicated to serving the communities across St. Louis County.

Tang and his family moved to the United States from Vietnam when he was 14 years old. Now, 20 years later, the 34-year-old St. Louis resident has built a career making sure the insurance industry stayed up to code in the Show Me State. Now, the former Department of Commerce and Insurance Financial Examiner is launching his own insurance franchise here in the Gateway City.

“The insurance industry in our communities really needed a good option when comes to protection,” Tang said. “With experience on both the regulatory side and the customer service side of the business, I know my experience can be something that will truly help those interested in coverage.”

Holding an MBA in Business Administration and Management from Illinois State University, as well as a Bachlelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri at St. Louis, Tang is an active member of the St. Louis Vietnamese Community Organization. “This is our home. Our neighborhoods need a dependable option when it comes to insuring what’s important to them,” Tang said.

Tang and his wife, Phuong, have a one-year-old, Karson. Tang, the son of Hoang Tang and Muoi Ma is a graduate of Gateway City High School.
